Hey Everyone!

I've been looking forward to Tuesday night's show, The Cliks. Now, I see we're expecting snow and ice tomorrow afternoon until Wednesday, when it turns to rain. The one night I have plans! Grrr! Well, I still plan to make the trip down to see the show, so I guess I'll see how the weather holds up.

In other news, I'm not taking my crush to the show. However, she said she's heard of "The Cliks." REALLY?!? I'll have to ask if she knows Tegan & Sara, or Bette & Tina. Ha, ha! Anyway, I just plan on keeping things cool and see how things progress. We'll see.... :-)

A Brief Update

Just an update.... remember that recent crush of mine? And the majority view that she was straight? Well, finally some good news. There's no way she's 100% straight... and our friendship continues to progress well. :-)

It's clear to me, that the creators of the "L Word" are jealous of me... how do I know this? They are copying my life. They gave Shane the same vehicle that I own, and now, they gave Alice the iPhone (although she doesn't have it in every "phone scene." I blame filming out of sequence, and the June release day of the L Word.) Umm... I guess that's all the coincidences.

So, I actually liked the ending of this past episode. It actually got my attention, and I had to rewind the TiVo. It made me smile.

I worked all day yesterday until 11:30pm - in a cave, essentially. So I learned of Heath Ledger's death Wednesday at 2pm - 24 hours later. I'm just so sad! I really liked him. I loved "10 Things I Hate About You," "Brokeback" (of course), "Monster's Ball"... ugh. Just so sad. Feel so sad for his family, friends, and of course, his little daughter Matilda. SO Sad.

I got sick on New Years Eve... and have been sick since. Last week I pushed myself to get to work, as I have not yet accumulated any sick time this year yet. We used to get our days up front on Jan. 1, but not any more. So, basically you can't take vacation or get sick in January without losing pay. I've missed work yesterday and today. And unlike passed jobs where I didn't give two shits if I missed work, I really kinda have to be there...

So let's recap 2008 thus far:
* Got Sick - Dec. 31
* Slept all day Jan. 1
* Worked with sore throat and no voice for three days
* Slept all day Saturday
* Had previously agreed to babysit on Sunday - went reluctantly... and still sick.
* Sunday night, I felt worse - severe headache
* Didn't sleep Sunday evening
* Monday, Jan 7, thought I would die from severe headache/sinus pain.... went to doctor.
* Was told I had a secondary infection. Antibiotics will take a few days to kick in.
* Nearly died yesterday from pain (okay, slight exaggeration)
* Missing work again today - pain continues but slightly reduced

Well, so far 2008 has been a bust.

Non-Spoilers Here....

I just, finally, finished watching the L Word, Season 5 Ep. 1 premiere off OurChart. Pretty cool they streamed it. Of course, at 9am PST time, the entire site was crashing and "no connections" could be made. Not surprisingly actually. Even if I did plan my day around it. So, at 1:30pm EST (10:30am PST, for all those who care), I was able to log into Showtime's link and view. BUT, I had plans at 3pm, and needed to get some booze and drive to my friends house prior to 3pm (I wasn't drinking while driving - that's illegal and dangerous - don't do it!).

So anyway, at 9pm, I got home and watched it. Here's my synopsis. Jenny is mad-crazy, and I actually HATE (yes, HATE) that they continue to feed into the "Jenny is crazy" camp. I remember Ilene saying she related most to Jenny in the beginning. Now she's just off the wall. However, Mia looks fucking HOT! Shane needs a hair cut. Which is ironic, since she is a stylist. I realized Joyce reminds me exactly of someone I work with (voice, sarcasm) - very funny & fantastic. Alice is always too cute. Poor Helena. Bette and Tina look mighty fine. Sexual tension anyone? Jodi still annoys me (Bette, I liked your efforts with the table!) Who else? Max was fine, even if Alice did completely insult him. I'm sure I'm forgetting people.... oh, or am I thinking there are more characters than there are? Yes, I forgot. Apparently half of them "got lost" during the past "three or so weeks" from the old season til now.

Back to reality...

If I have $5 for every time someone has asked me if I have a boyfriend yet, in the past 2 weeks (including tonight)... I would have won more money than my boy's fantasy football jackpot (errr... that was $450). It's getting old, and it's getting annoying. Why the fuck does anyone give a shit? Are they implying I'm getting old or that I'm lonely? Shut the fuck up and focus on yourself, and please stop asking about my sex life.

Well, at least tomorrow I start my vacation around Noon. I can then proceed to drown my sorrows in alcohol. Bummer.

Trailer Talk

I know, I know, I know... some people don't like Tegan & Sara. I don't get it really, but I'm learning to respect you. Ha, Ha! However, if you're not into their music, perhaps you can get into their banter. They are really funny together, and just play off each other so well. They have been recording "Trailer Talk" - live from their trailer while on the road. It's similar to something they did on the DVD release with their new album, but now they do it in their trailer as they freeze their asses off (well, in the northern states anyway). Enjoy! (An update on ME, is below)

So here's a Kai update: Ummm... nothing much going on. End of update. Just kidding. I'm trying to get back to blogging after a much needed mental break. Anyway, I think those happy pills are really starting to work! Especially when you take them with alcohol! All your problems just go away! ;-)

No, but seriously, just been working a lot and don't have access to blogs and fun stuff at work. Plus, I'm pretty sure my work computer is running Windows 3.1, even if it says XP.

Today, my co-worker told me I need to stop working so many extra hours, and get a social life. Little does she know that my part-time job at night provides some good opportunities for flirting. :-)

I don't blog, because I don't really have anything to say.

However, I want to thank everyone for the birthday wishes! I had a great birthday week/Thanksgiving week. It started off with a Tegan & Sara concert! I love them! They are so cool, and my crush on Tegan just gets bigger!

Then EARLY the next morning (I was very sleepy!) I flew down to Florida. The weather was warm and beautiful. I unexpectedly had to rent a car - my cousin's car had broken down and she couldn't pick me up from the airport. Anyway, the car agent saw it was my birthday the next day and gave me some cool little sports car. So, I drove around Fort Lauderdale in style!

On my birthday, I went to the beach and relaxed. It was so nice. That night, I went out to dinner and then saw my girl, Tori Amos perform! It was incredible to see her perform on my birthday - felt very special. Plus, it was cool to be around a different audience. They seemed a bit more intense, and excited. I guess NY'ers are more laid back (perhaps?).

Thanksgiving was another lovely day. I went swimming at the beach and cruised around. Dinner consisted of eggplant, sweet potatoes and veggies (I don't particularly like Turkey). Then I watched the football game. Overall, it was a great birthday week!

In the midst of all this, I accidentally put a Rilo Kiley song into my Tegan & Sara mega-mix on my iPod, and now I'm becoming obsessed with Jenny Lewis and Rilo Kiley.

Wow, I suck at this blogger thing. I got back to reality and have just been working (plus a little napping in between!). I'm glad to be working extra hours though - I want to save money to go to Vancouver. I'm still scare to go to Venezuela - sorry ladies.

My iPhone is awesome! It's much more than a phone. That's the least of the functions I use! Although the EDGE connection is slow at times, it was painfully slow in Alaska, so even know it seems okay. But it's definitely a fun gadget!

I'm back from my vacation, but I'm still tired and adjusting to the time changes. Alaska was beautiful, although a bit rainy! Apparently it rains a lot there. Who knew? But it was great and I'm sad to be back home and having to work tomorrow. I do, however, feel like I need some change in my life. Something about my vacation has prompted this. I'm not sure what though.

Anyway, here's a picture of Hubbard Glacier. It's about 1,000 miles north of Vancouver. (Btw, I LOVED Vancouver - I want to move there!) I'll post more picture throughout the week.

Sleep Cycle

So, I've been working 14-15 hour work days, which has been decent. My new part-time job is working in the ER. It's pretty cool and interesting. At first, it was exhausting adjusting to late hours, but last night I didn't go in, and really had nothing to do at home. I was kind of bored (and too tired to go for bike ride). I fell asleep early last night and now I'm wide AWAKE. Hmmm....

A Sudden Change

I just ended a 6-year friendship tonight. I'm not sure how I feel.

It was with the mutual friend, I'll call "Teri," who had introduced me to "Crooked Straight" (CS) friend, about 4 years ago. Things with Teri hadn't been the same since I met CS. Honestly, I initially had a better friendship with CS, than I did with Teri. We had more fun, and got along better. Of course, everything changed with CS...

As for Teri, well, last year was difficult for me. My dad's death was hard, and this past year, having all those "first" anniversaries was difficult. I haven't been as available... and honestly, I didn't like CS having any access to what was going on in my life. CS was toxic, and I needed to get away from her. I admit, I put some distance between me and Teri. We changed - we grew apart - we had less in common.

Today was Teri's birthday. I emailed her to wish her a happy birthday. She sent me a contentious email back. She's right - I can't be the friend she needs. But she's also wrong - I'm not a bad person. I just changed. My priorities have shifted. It was more important to me that I emotionally support my mother and family this past year, and less my friends. I don't think I made the wrong decision. It's okay if she does.

Still, it's hard to end a friendship. It's sad. But somehow, I also feel relieved that I don't need to pretend anymore.

And so, life goes on.

Playing Fantasy Football

If you are playing Fantasy Football and have been completely confused and overwhelmed when looking at your line-up, no worries because you're not alone! A few of you have said, "What the hell am I doing?"

Right now, my best advice is - leave your roster alone... for the most part. Not to say, you shouldn't pick up 4, yes 4, defense teams when only 1 defense teams plays on your roster each week (LOL!), but right now, the line-ups are based on last year's FFb (to be now known as "Fantasy Football") rankings and projected performance. Unless players have gotten very hurt in pre-season, or are named Michael Vick, chances are you have better players than what is currently available as a "Free Agent." However, once rookies start playing in games, and players are seriously injured, things change a bit.

So, when you ask, "What the hell am I doing?"... I would say, just sit tight. If you want me to review your rooster, I will gladly do that. Once the football season begins, hopefully it will make a bit more sense on how scoring works, etc.

Be sure to check updated COMMISSIONER NOTES in the league. It's meant to help. And a reminder, the league plays 1 Quarterback (QB), 3 Wide Receivers (WR), 2 Running Backs (RB), 1 Tight End (TE), 1 Kicker (K), and 1 Defense (DEF) position weekly. No other players who are slotted in Benched Position (BN) will count toward weekly scoring.

Coming Soon - Fantasy Football!

The "game" begins in September when regular (american) football season begins and lasts until December. You will have to review your rooster weekly - it can take anywhere from 5 mins to 5 hours depending on your interest level. I will happily help anyone along, because once you get the hang of it, it can be lots of fun!

Here's some information on how to play Fantasy Football...

A typical fantasy football league (FFL) has 8 to 14 teams. Each team roster typically contains 15 players made up of 9 starting positions and 6 bench positions. These numbers and the specific starting positions vary from league to league.

The season starts with a draft where managers select real NFL players to build their roster. Each NFL player can only belong to one team in the league at a time. Drafts can be either live or online. For a live draft, all managers get together in person. An online draft is conducted online via the service used to manage your league.

During the season, you will manage your roster by deciding who to start and who to keep on the bench. Only your starting players can score points for you. To improve your team, you can also trade with other teams or replace an existing player with a free agent or a player off of the waiver wire.

Each league has one coach who also serves as the league commissioner. It is the commish's responsibility to set up the league, schedule the draft and resolve any disputes that may arise in the league.

Playing fantasy football will affect how you watch real football.

You will soon know the names and stats of players you never heard of before. You will notice when watching a game on TV that you're paying a lot of attention to the player stats ticker at the bottom of the screen.

You will find yourself wanting your favorite NFL team to win, but hoping that the other team's #1 receiver has a big day because he's on your fantasy team. Even worse, you may hope that your NFL team's running back doesn't have a good day (and the rest of the team picks up the slack, of course) because he's on your fantasy opponent's team.

And you'll be ok with all of this. You've been warned...

Concert - Tegan & Sara

My very first "Tegan & Sara" last week was AWESOME! It was at a very small venue, and when I walked in, I was surprised how close the stage was... I forgot that people still perform at these (approx.) 300 person venues. I don't think I've been to such a small venue since Alanis Morissette played at the TLA in Philly in 1995, and tickets were $7.50. Good times.

Anyway, the show was really good - they sounded great! They played the entire new album, backwards. They talked, and shared stories. They are very funny. Sara was telling a story about how Tegan broke her arm 4 times before the age of 12. Tegan said, "I don't usually tell people I don't know this story - it sounds suspicious - as if I was hurting me - they weren't!" Then, Sara spoke about her therapy, and Tegan said, "Again, not something I generally tell people." The crowd was okay - some people were drunk and obnoxious, but luckily they weren't standing right next to me. All in all - a very enjoyable show. Will be seeing them perform again in few months.

It's officially here! My first "Tegan & Sara" show!

I'm very excited... sucks I need to go to work today, but I'm off tomorrow. Yay! My best friend is coming in this afternoon. Then we're heading to venue. It's general admission. Tour de F*cked!

I know no one is really following the Tour de France bike race (except for Nico! YAY! I totally remember Miguel Indurain! Remember when they didn't wear helmets?) ... Anyway, the race is SO FUCKED!

Cyclist, Alexandre Vinokourov, who one 2 stages of the race, was found to have engaged in blood doping - an banned practice. What is blood doping, you ask? I had no idea before this!!

Apparently, this guy had someone else's blood injected into his body before a race stage to raise his red blood cells, which can increase his performance from 5% - 20% because more oxygen can get through his body. It also decreases the lactic acid in your muscles, making them less sore. So, he tested positive for having someone else's blood in his blood stream! OMG!

His cycling team was then asked to leave the race. Sad. The team had just slipped to 2nd place overall.

THEN, yesterday, Michael Rasmussen, the cyclist who lead the race since July 15, was fired from his team hours after winning his second stage for doping suspicion. This is a man who has been the best mountain climber in the race for the past 2 years. He was on track to WIN the race this year!

ALSO, as if that wasn't enough, yet another cycling team withdrew from the race yesterday after the second cyclists on their team failed a drug test.

Is there anyone left riding the race????????

I've listened to most of the songs online on their MySpace page, and I have to say, I really love the new sound! Not sure when I'm going to have time to get to the store today, but I'll figure something out. Go out and buy the CD!

I'm still a bit sick... but not a full-blown cold. I'm fighting it!

Tour de France

Everyone should know that I'm obsessed with the Tour de France. I have been for years! My brother got into bike riding in his teens, and introduced me to the tour. We would spend the days in July watching the race on TV. Afterwards, we'd head outside, grab our skateboards and ride the skate ramp my brother had build in the woods behind our house. Fun times. So, I've been spending my evenings glued to the TV watching the TiVo'd Tour de France!

@Mins - Skip "The Black Dahlia" - horrible. I definitely recommend "Gray Matters" - I could related to a lot of it.

@TigerBlue - "Sicko" was great! Very eye opening, but also frustrating that our health care system is what it is! Definite must see! Oh, and I don't know why I watched "The Black Dahlia" to the end either... a waste of 2 hours.

@Lurker - Yolanda has NO idea of my fantasy of her. I know her from a professional environment. But I don't even see her anymore. Our very little contact is via email. She is NOT crooked straight friend. Her real name is not Yolanda. Uta actually gave her that name as a joke (and is apparently Nilz's wife's name?!) Yolanda does not know of my blog. She doesn't exist in this online world.... she is unattainable - and perhaps that's her allure.

TGIF! ... now if I can just make it through the day. Have to meet with some difficult people today. Kind of a-scared. Need to stay focused and be confident. Yikes!

Hey everyone! Thanks for getting back to me with Fantasy Football. I will explain how to play in a post either tomorrow or over the weekend. I'm HOPING everyone can play - even if you're not in the U.S., however there are other sites besides Yahoo! Football. I'm excited and I think it can be fun. :-)

In other fantasy news... LOL!... I had a dream about Yolanda last night. Awww... it was sweet. Unfortunately though, only a dream.

I also watched "Gray Matters" and "The Black Dahlia" recently. "Gray Matters" was a cute film - I recommend it. Plus, Rachel Shelly has a small part! "The Black Dahlia" however was horrible! The only saving grace was Mia and Jemima Rooper.... ahhh, Jemima...

Tonight I think I'm watching either "Factory Girl" or "Kinsey." (I've been dying to see Kinsey - yes, even if it came out 3 years ago!)

Hey everyone! Fantasy Football leagues are now being formed! I played last year for the first time and had a GREAT TIME! And considering I had NO idea about any players when I started, it wasn't long before I was making trades and getting points! Anyone can play - you just need an Yahoo! account (which is free!). So, I wanted to see if anyone was interested in playing. You don't have to live in the country to play (hint! hint! to those outside the U.S.) - you can follow everything online. I think we can have up to 10 teams (maybe 12?) ... and would love to play this year with my blog buddies. Let me know! And if you have no idea what it's about - say you'll play and I'll teach you. It's pretty easy - and did I mention FUN?

My wild, fun-filled, blog vacation is over. I'm back to blogging (some what!). I still prefer my mini-blogging via Twitter. But regardless, here I am.

On Saturday, I walked through the city with yet another Venezuelan chick (I got to meet 2 of them! Jealous?) This was a t-shirt we stumbled upon in Urban Outfitters. I was laughing hysterically. A quality shirt!

NYC Pride Parade was awesome.... and very, very long! It was over 5 hours - yes, FIVE. And it seemed like every church in the tri-state area is gay friendly and in the parade.

The free stuff was fun - we all got plenty of free condoms, astroglide, men's face wash... and lollipops.

More to come... it took forever to upload the pictures because iPhoto sucks and something happened to my camera adapter.

Weekend Snap-Shot

What would you do if you were given a million dollars today?

I think I would quit my job. Move near the ocean, and spend the summer learning to surf. Maybe move to San Diego, which I just love. Or stay within the NY area. I would want to buy a home/condo/townhouse. I want to own something. I want a balcony or backyard. Some place to sit and relax. I want to buy things for a place I actually own. I want to paint my walls any color that suits me. I want to buy a big, comfy chair, and sit in it every day. I want a washer and drying in my home. I want to be able to share my home with someone.

But I don't have a million dollars, so I must go to work today.

Wii Sad

I got the ~~NEW~~ Nintendo Wii!!

The same afternoon my TV broke.

The two events are unrelated (sort of).

No, I didn't fling the Wii remote at the TV and crack the screen. And no, I didn't get so excited playing Wii tennis that I leaped on the TV. Basically, my video outputs weren't working correctly, and so in an effort to see the back of my TV and "investigate" the problem, I moved my TV and it became lop-sided and started to fall over. I grabbed it and thought "Whoa, that was close!" But unfortunately, me holding it half in the air, wasn't gonna last long. My arms quickly got tired from holding up 100+ pounds of TV (seriously, my dog weighs less!), and ultimately, my TV fell to the ground.

I figured, "Oh, I'm sure it will be okay." Well, I pulled it in, and heard sizzling noises. Not good. I opened up the back - as if I have any clue what I'm looking at - and received about 10 electric shocks from the TV (and yes, it was unplugged). I screwed it back up, and plugged it back in, and there was nothing. RIP.

My Wii - in all it's fresh innocence - sits by the TiVo waiting for some attention. Poor thing. It doesn't know the TV broke. I couldn't tell Wii. I though it might get upset. My TiVo is holding a brave front and trying to bond with the Wii.

So, until I get a new TV, it's safe to say, Wii Sad.

I just got to work and checked my personal e-mail. My old friend, 'crooked straight friend' e-mailed me to say she misses talking to me. She said, "I know you have your reasons for not wanting to talk to me and I understand. I've been pretty shitty to you in the past. I would however love to see/talk to you."

Of course, a part of me wants to contact her - kind of. I do miss the good stuff, but the bad stuff was shitty. Maybe I'm stronger and we can just be acquaintances? FUCK!

Day 983 of my captivity. My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a “good little hunter” I am. There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of “allergies.” I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow — but at the top of the stairs. I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now…

Without Oxygen!

My internet was down last night. I felt like I couldn't function. I felt like I didn't have needed oxygen. Of course, I could have fiddled with the router, and probably figured it out if I had an ounce of patience, but after my walk, I was too tired.

As for the video blog, I have to just edit it a bit. I will either get it on YouTube, or SendFile (whatever) to you guys. But seriously, it's a bit spooky when you only see my white teeth. I'll get it together. Will hopefully have time after work today.
